Wow, what a week! So, I can barely even remember Monday and Tuesday, which means that they were definitely incredibly busy. I was warned that when camp started, we would be busy. Oh, yes, we have been! First of all, it is pretty generous of the city of Boston to permit all individuals under age 19 to have free meals during the summer. I have no idea how this is funded, and I am a little embarrassed to admit this, considering that I've been the one solely responsible for the intake data for how many campers and adults are consuming food. And the inspector comes tomorrow, so all of my work for the past month will be assessed-- and all the breakfast data has been pre-coffee, so hopefully the data is accurate enough. Now I'm going to rewrite all of the data so that it looks decent. Perfectionism at its best.
Yesterday takes the cake as being a disaster day. Woke up exhausted, disillusioned, and upset, really wanting to take a personal day off. But, my boss is out of town Wednesday through Friday, so it was not a viable option. I do the normal food intake at 8:30am, and finish at 9:00am, since there appeared to be fewer campers than usual. Then I make a phone call to vent (thank you, you're awesome :) ), whilst ordering breakfast. While I'm on the phone, a guy around my age asks me where the cups for ice coffee are, and I very distractedly point to it, keeping my attention on the phone. I pay with a credit card, am barely even paying attention when the cashier asks me whether I want a receipt (I hate being one of those people, but it really was one of those days...), and I say no, and walk toward where the condiments are, and reach for a fork. Then, somehow my right foot slips, and the phone hits the ground (and it's only 2 weeks old...ahhh!!!), and I fall right on my butt, back, and my right arm. I had reflexively tried to use my right arm to catch my fall...but not so successfully. Then, the same guy who asked me where the iced coffee cups were, and another guy, come by and try to help me up, with concerned faces. At this moment, I am so embarrassed that I was THAT GIRL, and I get myself up and thank them. Seconds later, I'm incredibly pissed off that I lost my breakfast on the floor (it was a long line for it!), and also very pissed that I ruined my gray skirt. Or, so I thought. Coffee cup guy assured me that it wasn't so bad...and he was right. I was lucky, at least in that aspect. So I explain why the phone got disconnected, which is an occurrence that is very indicative of a long, going-to-be-bad day. Work was completed in time, thankfully. And then when I got home, my nightstand broke, and tea fell all upon my carpeted floor. Good thing the carpet is a) brown and b) so old that it will have to be replaced when I move out in late August. I probably should have just gone to bed right after coming home, and not risked being a disaster through the rest of the day :P.
Today...just the final touches to the food manual, which shouldn't take too long. I've always been the type of person who detests turning in work that isn't to my standards, so it's probably going to take longer than it would a non-perfectionist, calmer individual. I should get started on that and stop procrastinating.
Oh, and I checked the status of the awesome 4" heels I bought for all upcoming weddings...and the shipping status tells me that it's currently in Grove City, PA, which is where the first wedding I'm attending (in September) is! And it will take a whole other 5 days to reach my home shipping address. Hm, maybe I should just call them and have them hold them for me there?
